FINISH DESCRIPTIONS
Natural brass: Natural brass has character - it is not highly polished, but has a soft hand brushed tone, and will continue to develop a beautiful antique bronze-like patina as it ages.
Lacquered brass: A lacquer sealer placed over the natural brass which will protect the surface from oxidization and stop the natural patina process, preserving the "new" look.
Blackened brass: A patina achieved by applying a blackening chemical agent to the brass, turning it a medium shade of black with slight brass highlights showing through.
Oil rubbed bronze: A patina achieved by applying a darkening chemical agent to the brass, producing a dark brown toned finish with slight brass highlights showing through.
Antique brass: A patina achieved by applying a darkening chemical agent to the brass, producing a lighter brown toned finish with brass highlights showing through.
Natural Copper: A hand-brushed natural finish, which will develop a dark brown/bronze patina over time. Natural copper comes as seen in the photo, in it’s bright “new penny” stage, but as it ages it will turn from the bright copper to a darker orangey tone, and finally to a brown with possible verdigris highlights.
Lacquered Copper: A lacquer sealer is placed over the natural brushed copper to preserve the “new penny” look and protect the surface of copper from the oxidization which causes it to darken. Please note that even with the lacquer added, it is in the nature of copper (and brass) to patina, and so a slight darkening may still occur even through the lacquer.
Bronzed Steel: A patina agent is used to darken the steel to a deep blackish/brown tone with areas of lighter brown and natural variations showing through. Sealed with a semi-gloss sheen lacquer.+
Matte Black: A blackening patina agent is used to blacken the metal, and the matte finish is achieved by using a matte sheen sealer over the patina. We can apply this finish to both brass and steel base metals, brass being the best choice for areas subject to dampness or humidity.
